FAQ
What is your typical lead time?
Usually 3-4 weeks but this can vary based on current market conditions or supply chain shortages.
What are your size limitations?
96″ x 48″ x 6″ Under certain circumstances we can finish components outside this range, please contact us to discuss if you have a larger part.
Do you have a minimum order quantity?
No, however keep in mind our process is fully automated so smaller runs (under 50) may not be price competitive.
Do you machine the parts for me or can I send them to you?
We prefer to do the machining to maintain our high quality standards, but either way works as long as the required MDF is used. This is discussed upfront and determined on a job to job basis.
What is your square foot price?
Since all our jobs are custom components with different part sizes, machining requirements, and powder required per part, we do not have a square foot price. Powder coating MDF is very cost competitive compared to other finishing options and materials.
Can I use any type of MDF?
DVUV requires a certain grade MDF containing the required moisture content and density profile. The MDF we use ensures a high quality finish every time. Contact us if you have specific questions about MDF types.
Can you coat other types of wood such as hard or soft woods?
Yes, it is possible to powder coat both hardwoods and softwoods. Please contact us to discuss your application, as some types of wood are more difficult to coat due to variances in moisture content, density and surface smoothness.
Does DVUV powder coat metal or other substrates?
We stick to powder coating wood, however our sister company Keyland Polymer has a demo line for testing and validating UV cured powder coating for composite, plastic and metal substrates. They can work with you to develop a coating or even help you set up your own powder coating system.
How durable is powder coating?
Powder coating makes for a much more durable finish than paint or even some grades of laminate. It withstands high traffic environments that require frequent cleanings. You can view our technical data sheets here.
